Salary + benefits: $60,000-$70,000/year + $300 monthly contribution to healthcare reimbursement arrangement

About Farmshare

Located on a 13-acre certified organic farm in Southeastern Travis County, Farmshare Austin cultivates the next generation of farmers and increases community food access. We offer opportunities in a learning community for adults who are interested in launching careers in organic and sustainable farming. Over 50 percent of the produce grown on the farm goes directly to our Fresh for Less Mobile Markets and Home Delivery, Farmshare’s weekly, reliable food access program serving 25 zip codes in the Eastern Crescent of Austin and Travis County.

Since 2014, we have graduated 110 adults from our 20-week Farmer Starter beginning farmer training, of whom nearly 80% are working in agriculture or an agriculture-related field.

Since fall 2016, Fresh for Less Mobile Markets and Home Delivery, a partnership with the City of Austin, provides a weekly, reliable source of reduced price, farmers’ market quality fresh produce, focusing on local, and nutrient-dense grocery items to low-income customers in the Eastern Crescent of Austin and Travis County.

Job Summary:
Farmshare Austin seeks a Finance & Administrative Manager to join our team. This is a new position which will oversee and be accountable for financial, administrative and some human resources responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, efficient systems thinker who possesses exceptional organizational skills, be familiar with administrative functions, understand nonprofit finance systems and be able to work collaboratively with the Farmshare team to develop this new role.
The Finance & Administrative Manager will oversee all internal financial management and bookkeeping activities, and will be the primary liaison with contractors who complete other necessary finance and auditing activities. This position works closely with the Executive Director, contractors and staff & board leadership to ensure strong financial accuracy, reporting, budget preparation and auditing. The Finance & Administrative Manager will maintain the highest level of integrity and stewardship of public funds for the agency.

The Finance & Administrative Manager reports to the Executive Director. The Bookkeeper will report to the Finance & Administrative Manager. This position will play a critical role enabling Farmshare to reach our food access and beginning farmer training goals.

Essential Job Duties:
Financial (40%)

Act as primary liaison with Farmshare’s external accounting and bookkeeping firm
Provide external accounting and bookkeeping firm with monthly statements
Review monthly reconciled financials
Complete weekly cash and check deposits
Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable
Serve as staff lead with auditor and external accounting and bookkeeping firm for annual financial audit
Serve as staff lead with external accounting and bookkeeping firm for annual tax filing
Oversee year end 1099 preparation by external accounting and bookkeeping firm
Work collaboratively with the executive director to draft the annual budget

Administrative (40%)
Process payroll
Serve as company credit card administrator
Work with insurance broker to maintain organization insurance coverage
Serve as lead administrator for organization Google Drive
Complete administrative and financial forms for grant applications and grant reporting in coordination with executive and program staff
Maintain quarterly organic certification worksheets and payments
Maintain annual sam.gov renewal
Maintain annual Secretary of State required filings
Submit annual Austin Public Health Agency Profile
Receive and distribute general inquiries received through Farmshare’s website, general email and main phone line

Human Resources (10%)
Drafting employee agreements
New employee onboarding
Manage employee benefits

Organizational (10%)
Attend and participate in weekly team meetings and check-ins to collaborate and address topics that affect the overall health and success of the organization
Participate in strategic planning
Participate in Farmshare’s main fundraising events
Perform other duties, within capacity

Qualifications and Personal Characteristics:
Experience working in a role with similar responsibilities
Experience with Quickbooks Online
Experience with project and task management
Spreadsheet proficiency
Experience using payroll software preferred
Excellent communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Positive attitude, desire to see others succeed, and willingness to help problem-solve with honest feedback and ideas for solutions

Farmshare is located on a 13-acre farm in Southeastern Travis County, approximately 10 miles east of ABIA off Highway 71.
Hybrid position of onsite and remote, requiring at least twice weekly onsite.

Benefits:
Employer contribution to an individual Healthcare Reimbursement Arrangement for each employee.
Ample paid time off (PTO) of 160 hours per fiscal year, prorated according to start date and full or part-time position.
Five additional paid holidays.
Paid time off between Christmas Eve and New Years Day when offices are closed.
